A great day at the KHA Research Walk

AKTN’s Chair, A/Prof Carmel Hawley presents at the 2016 KHA Research Walk.

The Australasian Kidney Trials Network is a strong supporter of the annual Kidney Health Australia (KHA) Research Walk. This year, A/Prof Carmel Hawley gave a presentation highlighting the importance of kidney research sending the kidney community the following important standout message:

“Think about why and how as a kidney patient you could help with kidney research rather than why you shouldn’t”.

The KHA Research Walk raises awareness of the impact kidney disease is having on Australians. The kidney health community gather in red attire in parks across Australia and participate in a walk. This year nearly 2,500 supporters participated bringing in a total of $140,000. All proceeds help support KHA research programs and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of those people affected with chronic kidney disease as well as they carers.
