The Australasian Kidney Trials Network (AKTN) works in collaboration with the kidney care community (nephrologists, renal nurses, dieticians, and other allied health professionals) to deliver high-quality, investigator-initiated clinical trials to benefit Australasian kidney patients. The Scientific Committee provides guidance on the scientific direction of the AKTN, including reviewing new trial proposals, providing advice to investigators on new and existing trials, and offering suggestions on how to present the Network’s scientific achievements to the Nephrological community. Membership comprises Nephrologists with a wide range of clinical and research interests, a health economist, representatives from ANZDATA, the Cochrane group and ANZSN, statisticians, a renal nurse and a renal dietician.
The AKTN is seeking expressions of interest from Nephrologists with an interest in clinical trials, who would be willing to volunteer their time to attend a one-day meeting in Sydney twice per year, and a two hour videoconference 2-3 times per year to fill the following two membership vacancies:
- Paediatric Nephrologist
- New Zealand Nephrologist
Members provide a service to the Nephrological community by guiding the AKTN to ensure the community’s priorities are recognised, and in return receive information on and experience in the conduct and management of investigator-initiated clinical trials. Current members of the Committee are listed on the AKTN’s website.
If you are interested in being considered, please complete the form below by Friday, 23rd June 2017. For more information, please contact Donna Reidlinger, AKTN Operations Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Nominations will be considered by current Scientific Committee members, and successful members appointed by majority vote.
